Illini fall to Purdue 24–17 on Homecoming

Purdue takes the Cannon at a sold-out Gies Memorial Stadium; Illinois (2–3, 0–2 Big Ten) visits Michigan State Saturday.

Illinois lost 24–17 to Purdue on Saturday at Gies Memorial Stadium, the university’s athletics department reports. Collin Dixon caught 10 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown, Katin Houser threw for 225 yards and two scores, and Ismael Kante had a career-high 10 tackles. Ethan Moczulski hit a 54-yard field goal.

Illinois sold out Homecoming in back-to-back years for the first time since 2008–09. The Illini (2–3, 0–2) play at Michigan State on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 2:30 p.m. CT on FS1, then have a bye week.
