After the Cubs’ quick playoff exit, president Jed Hoyer said “the great majority” of the club’s offseason focus will be on acquiring pitching, the Sun-Times reports. Matthew Boyd, Shota Imanaga, David Peterson, Clay Holmes and Kevin Gausman are all likely headed to free agency.

Hoyer said he “did a poor job on the bullpen this year, full stop.” Ian Happ and Seiya Suzuki are also pending free agents; Cade Horton, Ben Brown and Justin Steele could anchor the rotation but are all coming back from significant injuries.
